PT MSIG Life Insurance Indonesia Tbk (also known as MSIG Life) has been a prominent business in the national life insurance industry since April 14, 1985. Established as PT Asuransi Jiwa Purnamala Internasional Indonesia (PII) and undergoing two transformation processes, MSIG Life now exists as a joint venture company between PT Sinar Mas Multiartha Tbk and Japan's insurance powerhouse, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd., since 2011.

MSIG Life officially became a publicly listed company on June 28, 2019, operating under the name PT Asuransi Jiwa Sinarmas MSIG Tbk. On July 9, 2019, the shares of MSIG Life (stock code: LIFE) began trading on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. At the same time, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (MSI) became the major shareholder, holding an ownership composition of 80% in Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd., 12.5% in PT Sinar Mas Multiartha Tbk, and 7.5% in the public.

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. MS&AD holds the largest share of general insurance premiums in Japan and is listed among the top 10 insurance group businesses in the world.
